Cherokee County Community Hero of the Month - February 2022

During challenging times, or even in day to day life, ordinary people are stepping up in extraordinary ways to give back to the places they call home. ATCU knows we're at our best when we give together, and we’re proud to share efforts that strengthen and uplift the communities so important to our mission.

Our Community Hero award was created to shed light on all the positive things happening right now in Northeast Alabama. In addition to these monthly highlights, Alabama Teachers also gifts our recipients in recognition of their heroic efforts.

In partnership with WEIS Radio, this month's Community Hero of the Month for the Cherokee County area is Mr. Rickey Chambers.

Mr. Chambers has acted as a volunteer firefighter for the City of Centre for 37 years. His commitment to his community and his service to others is a prime example of what it means to be a community hero.

Congratulations, Mr. Chambers, and thank you for your dedication to helping those in need!
