Alabama Teachers Credit Union is proud to present Ms. Autumn Ford, Kindergarten Teacher at Oxford Elementary School, as our May Teacher of the Month for the Calhoun County area, in partnership with 979WVOK.

Autumn grew up loving school and was even sad when school let out for summer break! She remembers the difference caring teachers made in her life and became an educator to influence students with the love learning and school as well. She says the most rewarding part of her job is seeing the excitement on a child’s face when they master a skill or become eager for knowledge.

Autumn makes lessons enjoyable for her kindergarten students by keeping them moving, singing, and dancing to help strengthen concepts. Autumn admits that the past few months have been challenging with COVID, and that teachers are battling against gaps in student learning due to missed school because of the pandemic. She encourages the community to help fight these challenges by supporting schools, asking to help, and being on the same team as the teacher so that the learning gap can be lessened.

Autumn mentioned that she appreciated being able to share her thoughts about teaching, and we certainly relish the chance to honor her!
