Cherokee County Teacher of the Month - October 2020

Alabama Teachers Credit Union is proud to present Ms. Kristy Milam, 3rd grade teacher at Centre Elementary School, as our October 2020 Teacher of the Month for the Cherokee County area, in partnership with WEIS Radio.
Ms. Milam went into the education field to help students by passing on her passion and love for learning. This year she is doing just that to a wider spectrum of students by serving as the Cherokee County Schools virtual teacher for all of 3rd grade.
The most rewarding part of her job is being able to witness the "aha" moment when children finally grasp a concept. Ms. Milam makes learning fun by incorporating songs and games into her teaching techniques. She believes one of the biggest challenges that educators face is reaching students that might not have adequate support at home.
Ms. Milam encourages people to help by getting involved in schools by reading to classes and mentoring students.
